South Texas Veterinary Care is a family-owned veterinary hospital founded by Dr. Antonio Cantu. Born and raised in the Rio Grande Valley, our mission is to provide high-quality, compassionate care to the pets and families of our community—delivering modern medicine with a personal, local touch.

Dr. Antonio Cantu
DVM
Dr. Antonio Cantu was born and raised in Mission, Texas, and is proud to serve the community he has always called home. After graduating from La Joya ISD in 2009, he pursued his passion for veterinary medicine by studying Pre-Veterinary Medicine at Texas A&M University–Kingsville. He later attended St. George’s University School of Veterinary Medicine in Grenada and completed his clinical training at Texas A&M University in College Station, where he earned his Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree.
From a young age, Dr. Cantu dreamed of becoming a veterinarian and returning to the Rio Grande Valley to care for the animals of his community. That dream became a reality with the creation of South Texas Veterinary Care. Dr. Cantu is dedicated to providing compassionate, high-quality medicine while building lasting relationships with the families and pets he serves.
